Yeah, the illustrations in the latest Papyrus were pretty terrible.
Of course, the man is over 80, and he’s not the only comic book artist to deteriorate with age: Mézières is far from what he used to be, and even Franquin lost much of his touch towards the end (just compare Gaston in 1982 and 1987). There comes a time when it’s best to retire.
Uderzo’s still got it, though. Just a shame his hand doesn’t allow him to work much any more.

Where other artists get better over time, I just think that De Gieter gets worse… Sorry Lucien…

It doesn’t seem like this strip is something he spent much time on, though. The face looks completely off. =/
I haven’t been checking out his later stuff, otherwise, but hopefully his main Papyrus series is a bit better…
