The serialization of La Lumière de Bornéo (“The Light from Borneo”) continues apace, and Dupuis have now added the album, set to be released on 7. October, to their website. There are two versions: the regular album edition, now with a new cover, and a special deluxe edition for collectors. Interestingly, the length of the two books are given as 92 and 168 pages, while the story is supposed to be “only” 82 pages long, so even the regular edition may include some extras.

Here are the two covers in full resolution, as well as the earlier working version of the cover and a set of photos of Frank Pé painting in a Paris café, before an audience of French and Belgian book sellers (posted to Facebook by Dupuis a while ago):

I grew up reading Spirou in Scandinavian translations. Now I'm learning French and trying to decode the originals.

  1. I’m seeing the images, but they take a while to load, with the different color layers appearing in stages…

    1. Thanks, Håkan. I see now that the gallery isn’t linking to the full-resolution version of the covers, either. (Which, to be fair, are absurdly big! Delete the resolution bit at the end of each filename to see the full versions.)

I’m not sure whether it’s the size or if there’s some glitch in the file format or what, but in any case it’s odd that it should affect the main header image, which has been downscaled to reasonable dimensions and re-saved.

But apparently it works now, so all is good!

    1. #9 “Fantasio se marie” has been translated to Danish as “Kviks brudefærd” by Cobolt.

#10 “La lumière de Bornéo” has only been out in French for one and a half month, so far.

    2. The ninth came out last month in Danish as Kviks brudefærd. The tenth was just released in French, and so far the only other language edition I’m aware of is Dutch.
