If you missed them, read Part 1 and Part 2.

I finally gave up on translating the title: It was just too much work to edit, and the results didn’t always justify the effort. If you can’t figure out that Les Aventures de Spirou means ‘The Adventures of Spirou’, I don’t know what to tell you. (“Adieu!” on the other hand, I left simply because it works in English as well.)

I grew up reading Spirou in Scandinavian translations. Now I'm learning French and trying to decode the originals.

  1. One of the difficult things with bringing a story from a serial like this is that it often doesn’t have a proper ending: The idea was to keep kids reading week to week, so one episode just sort of segues into the next. There aren’t any more Eskimos in the story, but does that mean it ends here? Jijé drew five more pages before handing the series back to Rob-Vel (for the time being), including a rather amusing and very Jijé-ish interlude in heaven. Let me know if you’d like to see that, or if it’d be better to move on to something else…

  2. I’ve already read this storyline in Tout Jijé, but I found the following pages with the western brawl (interesting when you know about how Jijé created Jerry Spring and later mentored Morris – Lucky Luke and Giraud/Moebius – Blueberry) and the aforementioned heaven interlude more entertaining than the eskimo story, so I’m in favor of a continuation for a couple of more pages.

Also, partly because I prefer the subdued original colors from your German printing, to the recolorization published in Tout Jijé.

    1. OK, I’ll see how much work it is, and if it’s not too daunting I’ll try to get the rest done at some point. There are 3–4 other Jijé stories I’d like to present as well, plus some other relevant things, and I’m hoping I can get to it all in the course of the year (while mixing it up with other Spirou-related material).

  3. Sorry, that should read:

“how Jijé later created Jerry Spring and mentored Morris – Lucky Luke and Giraud/Moebius – Blueberry”

A small but important distinction …
